this definitely is a great text for folks looking to learn more about the history of the memoir genre in a text that doesn’t read like a textbook. enjoyed the writer’s inclusion of their own journey writing memoirs as well as taking notes from ones that exist across multiple centuries.
the only thing that made me ick was use of the word ghetto in the intro (hate this word coming from anyone not black tbh) and also advice for folk not under 35/folk who are “too young” to reconsider writing a memoir (some of us are #traumatized, unfortunately, & I’m anti-rhetoric that suggests age = wisdom).

Moderate: Addiction, Alcoholism, and Cursing
