This final Rockton novel was a bit disjointed. I found the pacing really off and the plot struggled to decide which lane to stay in.
For what was supposedly the last book of the series, we spent way too much time with new characters central to the main mystery, which was a disservice to the supporting characters we’ve come to know and love throughout the previous 6 books. I guess I understood why once I finished the book, but I just couldn’t really care what happened to any of them because they all seemed to be temporary filler until we get the meat of the next book.

After the mediocre last book, #7 in the Rockton series recovers the atmosphere & mystery of previous books. Tensions are high as Casey tries to solve a murder while lies & conspiracy threaten the town. Read this if you like atmospheric murder mysteries with remote, claustrophobic settings and if you enjoyed the previous books in the series. This series should be read in order, so start with City of the Lost.
Moderate: Blood, Medical trauma, and Murder
Minor: Gun violence and Alcohol

4.5 stars! This is definitely one of my favorite series, and this conclusion did not disappoint! By the end, the stakes were higher than ever! I hope we somehow see more of these characters one day! The plane crash was INSANE 🤯 And I totally want a series on New Rockton!!!! PLEASE KELLEY
