I feel I should read this again sometime. My rating is not related to the quality of the book, but as to the quality of the narration. I love Francis McDormand, but for a book like this that moves around from story to story and back I feel it would work better if done by a voice actor with the ability to give more different distinct voices to several of the characters.

Uproarious. Ridiculous. Irreverent. Inappropriate. Love-able. A wild ride and I couldn’t get enough! This is the first time in ages where I am reading the next book in the series immediately. Based on this book, I’m tempted to binge the whole series.

Great characterisation and fantastic dialogue. Fast paced and funny. So evocative of a particular time and place.

A soap opera in book form with a WILD ending.  Shows it's age with some of the characters and storylines but in other ways I was surprised at how a few of the characters seem quite modern (Michael, Brian). Was a fun quick book but probably would not continue the series.
