Thank you Sharon J for recommending this series to me. This was a fantastic read. The final book from Anna's POV and it did not disappoint. I loved every second of this book. To me, this was the best book of the trilogy. The storyline had moments of laughter, tears, annoyance, and suspense. I think the best part of this series was the characters. Kaidan is forever my boy with the blue eyes, English accent, and his vulnerability when it comes to Anna really made me love him. As the series went on, I saw more of the gentle side to his character and I loved that. Anna is one of my favourite heroines. Yes, she is a bit naive, but as the series went on, I saw the development in her character and that she was getting bolder in her decisions and her actions. I really loved how Wendy Higgins made Anna better each book. This book made me happy, sad, heck, I went on a roller coaster of emotions while reading this book, and I am glad that I reread it. The epilogue was my favourite part. I am happy that the story ended perfectly with a happy ending. I cannot wait to read Sweet Temptation and see the full story from Kai's POV. Overall, an incredible read.

PERFECT.

Absolute perfection at it's best.

From the moment I read Sweet Evil a few years ago, I have never been more in love and enthralled by a book series than I have been with the Sweet Trilogy. And now it is over.

And now I don't know what to do with my life because it is over.

Wendy Higgins satisfies every possible idea we all have in Sweet Reckoning. Plenty of romance, action, retribution, and so much more. I am so fulfilled, and I have never smiled, laughed, and cried more in a book! And I don't have much to say because I am mostly in awe, and I feel that no matter how much I write, this amazing book, this amazing series, can be summed up in two words:

Absolutely sweet.

This is what it looks like when you give up on your thinly veiled metaphor and switch to overt preaching and repeatedly shoving your message in your audience's face with zero trust in their ability to interpret anything for themselves.

I don't have the energy to write the review this book deserves. Suffice it to say interesting characters and potentially interesting world completely wasted. Lots of holes in plot and abilities but I don't care much about those tbh. The final confrontation was really poorly done from a character standpoint (zero strategy, waste of resources, etc) and very obvious as a reader, which was unfortunate. I hate epilogues but some people like them. Whatever.

I do want to quickly touch on how unhealthy some of the messages are: (1) Multiple characters forgetting to use protection during sex = bad. (2) Mention of doctor's visit for sterility but literally nothing about health/STIs at the same time despite numerous previous partners = dumb, dangerous, and bad. (3) Stating that good sex just happens naturally rather than through communication = wrong and potentially damaging/painful, especially for women. (4) No one caring at all about vast male sexual history (except for the guy's self loathing and shame) while female virginity is literally a central plot = super unfair to women, messed up, and judgmentally ties female worth to sexual experience above their values, accomplishments, personality, and everything else.

Book actually suggests that petting is maybe okay but being raped would cause loss of purity. For the record, rape is in NO WAY influenced by its victim and is not within its victim's control. It has nothing to do with succumbing to temptation, poor values, past behaviors, or anything else that would or could question the victim's morality, purity, faith, or any other aspect. It is only a reflection of its perpetrator.

Lots of hypocrisy in the messages and ideas of book one to book three.

Also the baby thing feels super random and includes incorrect/false medical information regarding how pregnancy works.

Reading this series felt like rewatching Twilight for the 100th time. It's simple and somewhat predictable, it has a weird amount of unchallenged purity culture mixed into the plot, but the story is so engaging and entertaining that I still had a fun time.
