I really like this! As an adaptation of Swamp Thing for a YA audience, I think it works well! Concepts like the Green could maybe have been explored a little more, but I understand the choice to keep this separate and contained in its own world, as opposed to bogged down by DC lore. All of the main characters (Alec, Walker, Abby) have complexities and are perfect YA protagonists for this. A shame that this couldn't have been longer, since the ending left me wanting so much more (as any good story should)!!!
Moderate: Chronic illness, Cursing, Blood, Bullying, Fire/Fire injury, Body horror, and Gore
Minor: Infidelity, Medical content, and Animal death
Chronic Illness: (unsure how to tag, this felt safest) MC has type 1 diabetes – this is referenced frequently throughout the story, we often see his glucose monitor, him and other characters checking his blood sugar levels, his insulin needle, and so on. Cursing: Characters curse throughout the story, as most teenagers do. Infidelity: MCs' father is caught cheating on their mother, this is the inciting incident for them moving house and kick-starting the plot. Medical Content: See Diabetes comment above. + One page shows a character in a hospital. Animal Death: A character kills a mosquito at one point. ((I will update these tags later I have no time now!!! To be clear, I have overtagged just to be safe, the gore and body horror are almost entirely plant-based because this is swamp thing, you know))therainbowshelf's review against another edition

I didn't fully enjoy this book because it wasn't fully developed. The plant imagery was beautiful throughout, but there seem to be a lot of plot holes and confusing conclusions characters jump to, or weird lack of awareness (like about the dogs). The end didn't completely make sense to me. It felt like it came out of nowhere, and it seemed to ignore processes that were established earlier in the book. Content warnings for dead(?)/zombie(?) dogs.
