Gosh, this was so terrible I had to quit reading. And I was sitting in a waiting room. Staring into space was better than reading this because my eyeballs were tired from rolling every third sentence.

Full of cliches. Sam doesn't just wear a cowboy hat, it's a "Stetson". In e-v-e-r-y mention. They sit in "stygian darkness". The middle-aged scientists feel awkward about their sexual tension. The black football player hates the gay guy. Albino tarantulas creep out of underground cave. The (Spanish-speaking) hired security team is secretly planning to kill the archaeologists and loot the site. And the Indian translator says "I no know". Give me a break. I thought about putting it in the pile of books in the waiting area but thought it might be bad karma to inflict this terrible book on another person.

I really enjoy this series--it's like Dan Brown, but more layered and elevated.

ČITATELJSKI IZAZOV - NASLOVI PREMA SLOVIMA MOGA IMENA (10 - E)

LOVE IT!!!!! I say this about all of Rollins' books, but I really did love it. The history, the adventure, romance, everything was perfectly balanced. And the threat was perfect and so enticing. I wish I could find more books like this.

This was a good adventure/thriller that has some scifi thrown in. James Rollins comes up with some rather imaginative yet mostly plausible story lines. I can certainly imagine finding a lost Incan pyramid and some of the other adventures in the story. Some are harder to imagine but the author does a pretty good job of bringing it all together. I will read some more of his works.
