This was way more messy than it had to be–even with the distraction of the Rae & Coop mystery-hunting subplot. In this coming of age story about labels (and jealousy), Coop is the only one that came out smelling like roses. I usually enjoy YA books, but this might’ve been too YA for my fully formed adult brain.

This book was phenomenally written in 3 parts, each from the POV of a different main character. Each of the 3 grapples with the closeness of their relationships with the other 2. Their stories touch on questioning queerness, loss of family, assault, dealing with childhood trauma, and social justice
