I’m confused about the format of this book. It’s true crime and it’s described as testimony, but I think it’s a series of interviews that are supposed to be collated into a true crime novel of some sort. What makes it additionally confusing is that instead of a transcript interview from a single point of view per chapter you get Conversations that are from everyone’s point of view! This felt unnecessary why not choose a single point of view or one or two instead of every single persons? Outside of that the story itself was well done. The author chose to default some details right away and sprinkle small twist throughout. it reminded me a bit of everyone here is lying by Sherry Lena, but I believe these twists are more grounded in reality. This book is supposed to be a sort of indictment of crime and true crime fandom. In some ways it’s serves its purpose, but in some ways it’s a little bit on the nose. You won’t like any of the main characters here but I think that’s the point.
