Spoilers ahead

A graphic novel about overcoming life's challenges.

This story blends a folk tale while telling the story of a girl who is paralyzed from the waist down. Jordan used to play basketball and misses it so she begins training and joins a water polo team.  Some doubt her, but she works hard to be an amazing player. Unfortunately, the town is dealing with a drought, which affects everyone. Turns out the magical elephant who showed up mysteriously, is the cause of the draught.

I liked parts of this book, especially it's depiction of a child having a disability, but it spent way too much time on water polo. It almost felt like this way three stories in one and didn't focus enough on the heart and emotion of the story. I would have loved to have learned more about the town, the families, the etc.

I love this! Beautiful art, and really sweet characters. Set in Indonesia, Jordan is a basketball star who was in an accident which has led to her using a wheelchair. Jordan still supports her basketball team, but does find herself nostalgic for being able to play competitively. One day, she finds a fluffy white elephant at the playground and takes him home. Marshmallow becomes a supportive friend along her journey to water polo. I enjoyed the twist at the end!
