This took me almost a month to read, which is longer than usual for me with books this length. It really is just a stepping stone to the next story, and it took a long time to get to anything that really got me invested, and even then I ended up skim reading to just get to the end. I loved the first book, but I don’t think I will continue with the series after this. Maybe I will just look up a summary!

I’m currently very distracted. I may try this book again at a later date.

So this one started off a little slow for me but it got better. Especially after Aliza made the decision to got with Alistair. I liked the plot, it was an interesting mystery as well a fantasy.

I could seriously just read a history of this world. There seems to be so much going on and I want to know it all. I also want to know more about the manical cat.

I do want to know what the three main characters all have A names: Aliza, Alistair and Akara.

Now I have to wait for the next book...

The 2nd book was nothing like the 1st book. A completely different beast, and I like it a lot. With the fantasy world well established in the 1st book, and the romance concluded in a good old happy ending already, the next adventure is purely adventurous. Fast paced, full of action, Aliza and Alistair side by side from beginning to end, mystery, murder mystery, this is just another day in the life of Mr and Mrs Daired. This book is not a romance, but there are a lot of developments in A & A's husband & wife/Rider & Rider's wife relationship, which captured my interest a lot better than the flitting blushing romance in book 1.
I devoured this book so fast, the only thing I could find wanting was more, a lot more detailed descriptions on characters' facial expression and clothing.
Still giving 5 stars because it's been a long while I'm this engrossed in a fantasy adventure.
