I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job. I couldn't get into the story and I wasn't a fan of Amber.

The only regret I have is not reading this in Imp World order. I really enjoyed this series. I wasn't a fan of Amber when I was reading Sam's story, fom an outside perspective. In this case, POV was everything.

Picked up this book because i couldn't put the imp series down.
Unfortunately i wasn't as enamored with this book.
Could be that i just couldn't get into Amber as the main character as much as Sam but
i found that i had to force myself to finish the book.

I must say, I far preferred this book to Dunbar's "No Man's Land" novel. Perhaps she should stick to series verses novels; they give her the opportunity to expand on her worlds at her own pace and in a larger space. This book proved this; it was fantastic.
This book was everything I imagined a book about a Succubus demon to be. It was not lacking for sexual content, though I was surprised by Amber's seeming celibate attitude for a while there, even though she was far from a virgin. She was very creative about getting the lustful energy she needed, however. It was entirely intriguing.
I adored Amber as a person. She was not lacking for morals and held fast to her inherent virtues stemming from her Elven nature. This did not, however, do anything to dampen her fiery attitude and sexy Succubus persona, which made her all the more interesting and enthralling. She was loyal and protective to a fault; she would risk herself without hesitation for those she considered hers; her family and close friends.
Amber was able to adapt to every situation and trial thrown at her, and she never gave up when New Orleans needed her most, giving her all to do what she could. She is definitely a role model type character, and I admire her greatly. I cannot wait to see what fate has in store for her next, and how she will endure the new trials that await her in the near and distant future.

Amber really didn't match up to Sam for me- she's just not as fun and is so self-hating.
She also seemed a bit hypocritical-

Spoiler
Amber avoiding feeding on humans doesn't prevent them being hurt one bit- she's using Irix's energy that he got from feeding so she's still using human energy got from sex she's just bounced the responsibility for getting it off to Irix who doesn't seem to care where the energy comes from (and at no point in the book does she establish with him that he's meeting the standards she'd require- ie. not binding the human to him and choosing someone who's not married and likes one night stands). If she wanted to reduce the damage she did she's have to start feeding in a controlled manner and reduce her energy output- if she's unwilling to collect the energy herself for the spells she should be unwilling to use Irix's energy for the spells- it's the same source!backsong's review against another edition

Interesting concept, questionable characters. A full review to follow soon.

I LOVED the parts about being a demon/half breed. Honestly didn't care for the other half of the story line. The whole ley lines bit was boring to me and lacked Intrigue, which is too bad considering it's supposed to be the climax of the story.
