Hoo boy, the delicious drama in this volume! I am emotional over Touka's backstory (read:
Spoilerabandonment issues out the wazoo
), Ayato's secret, and Kaneki's... everything, to be honest. It's really a masterful bit of characterisation that Kaneki can be, at the same time, so protective and kind yet cruel and brutal. His interactions with Touka, especially, are full of beautifully wrought emotional tension here.

Side note: I like how it's repeatedly Yomo who holds Kaneki back. It's been hinted that Yomo had a violent past, and I like how he seems to feel a certain obligation to stop Kaneki from turning out as dangerous as he could be if he comes unmoored. I also like how two seeming antagonists when they first met Kaneki - Nishio and Tsukiyama - have ended up on his side in their own ways. That's the Kaneki effect at work.

These chapters also set up several more arcs - really skilful weaving in of storylines at different levels.

Ayato and Touka's story is just so sad...especially when they were little kids !!
it literary brought me to tears !! :'(((
ohh and that fight scene between kaneki and ayato was so epic, especially when kaneki started citing the name of the bones while breaking them...that was sooo good *__* :D

I wanted Ken in action, I got Ken in action. I can't wait to see what he does and where he goes next.

In questo volume c'è tutto quello che avrei voluto vedere di più nell'anime: kaneki pazzo in culo, un approfondimento sul personaggio di Ayato e un flashback sul rapporto tra Ayato e Touka. Adoro ma mi fa anche paura.

My recommended target group for this book
I would recommend this book to people that want to get into manga in general and have an interest in rather emotional stories with well balanced action scenes as a main element.

Further thoughts
In contrast to earlier parts of the series, this book relies on action scenes a lot more. Compared to the previous book, the illustrations seemed a lot better and less confusing which I appreciated.
