We read this book together as a family with my 6-year old daughter. We would take turns reading chapters to one another and the book was nearly impossible for her to put down. It is very much in the vein of the Lemony Snicket series and is perfect for the 6-8 age group.
I would rate it a 3 stars for me, the adult. My daughter though would give it a solid 5 stars and would actually beg us to let her read a few more pages. She is a reader anyhow but this series really hooked her and is an easy recommendation for someone with kids in that age range.
