What makes Addicted engaging is watching these two discover their feelings, acknowledge them and have to come to terms with how it changes how they see themselves, how it changes their relationship and what it means for who they want to be.

It doesn’t hurt that Kennedy also packs some intense (and frequent) sex scenes that will certainly have readers backing Lennox and Jamie’s decision to shift from friends to lovers.

Friends to lovers. Exhibitionism, control, little bit of threesome. Feelings interrupting fuck buddies. Sorting thru changing dynamics.

Loss of a central character. Off-page rapes, attempted rapes.

In a war-torn world with where the choices are either living in cities run by Enforcers where ‘free’ really isn’t free or living outside the cities as an Outlaw where ‘free’ means free-but-in-constant-fear-of-being-killed-by-an-Enforcer, Lennox and Jamie have fought the good fight together outside the fences. For twenty years their friendship has suffered the loss of both of their parents, the constant on-the-run lifestyle, and safety concerns with both Bandits and Enforcers. But when their pleasure house gets attacked everything changes. Forced to find a new safe place in Connor Mackenzie’s fortress, the two best friends are set onto a path that’ll mean more than just a test to their friendship.

ADDICTED was ridiculously hot. One thing I adore about the world that Elle Kennedy created is that love is love. There is no judgment here. In a world where every new day is a threat within itself, the least of anyone’s worries is if they’re straight, bi, or gay. No, here everyone loves everyone, and it’s all out in the open. I loved the dynamic between Len and Jamie; how they had managed to stick together through the deadly world where not many people had a person in their lives that they had known past a years’ time. Their bond was strong and absolutely apparent. Having been around her best friend for so many years, Jamie was a spitfire. She was strong, brave, and an equal in every way. They looked after each other. Lennox was the strong silent type who cared deeply for Jamie’s safety, and I loved that he was her rock in every way that mattered. I love that they sacrificed so much just to ensure that they kept one another in this non-guaranteed life. The bond they shared will strike you deeply.

Though the book started off a bit slow, I knew to keep going because Elle Kennedy has yet to disappoint me. Once it got going, I loved it. It was sexy beyond belief; that explosive corruption when friendship blurred to passion and love and sex was captivating. And Ms. Kennedy, as in all of the books I’ve read of hers (though not all yet), strays from the main characters to give different sides of the story in varying POVs while also setting up future books, which ramps up the excitement even more, and I love that. No POV change is without reason; they all have a point to make. Adventure, death, passion, and a deeply written plot continue enrapture and expand in each book. I really can’t wait for more to come in this series.

This series is so hot and addicting! I loved Jamie and Lennox's story and how it involved a lot of the characters from the first book. The ending tore at my heart and wished it hadn't happened but I still thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I find major floor in one aspect. The condoms. At one point it mentions “For twenty-seven years, Lennox had lived and struggled in the free land, labeled an outlaw by the Global Council” so its been nearly 30 years since the world basically ended, and these people who screw like rabbits and all have no kids can somehow bring out a condom every time they have sex? And sometimes they’re going for more than one round? Who the fuck is producing them?! It’s impossible! If Lennox and Jamie’s families had never been in the colonies one would assume there were heaps of people in the same situation and no one had found them yet. Right?

It would make sense right after the world ends, but 30 years, they wouldn’t even been in date anymore lol

Overall I didn’t enjoy this one like the first. I found both mains really frustrating. There’s literally a scene where they both jump to conclusions and she SLAPS him across the face for something he never did and when she realises nothing happened she feels remorse for like 2.5 seconds while she says sorry and then it’s nothing.

I also got annoyed that she got annoyed he was protecting her. If we saw her out and about proving she can do it, I would have been on her side, but she’s legit prancing around in dresses in a dystopian world and popping into houses on her own to pick out new clothes and jewellery like she’s at the mall. And later, when someone asks where she got the necklace she’s all smug that she stole it and forgetting that she also almost nearly got raped and murdered for it and had a hissy fit when her man got frustrated and yelled at her for being a dumbass. Because she was. I don’t think he should have yelled at him, but she complained he treated her like a useless child... while running around pouting like a child.

The romance never ended up feeling like romance to me. They just got jealous and ended up together. There were never any nice times that wasn’t sex. A nice talk or a date like event would have made them seem more in love but it was mostly just drama and it took the focus on them. To be honest I started caring much more about Xander and Kade. Bit bummed about Kade. Liked the young kids too that was cute. Unsure if I’ll continue because Reese seems a bit too stupid too with her new plan and I don’t know if I can handle that lol we will see

4.5 stars - My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2016/06/review-addicted-by-elle-kennedy.html

Elle Kennedy turns the action – and the heat – on high in Addicted. The second book in the edgy, erotic, dystopian Outlaws series definitely has the right title; it’s so addictive I read it in one sitting.

In a world where people are forced to live in colonies controlled by the Global Council, Jamie and Lennox have always lived free as outlaws. They’ve been best friends all their lives, and in the harsh world they live in they know they can always count on one another to have each other’s backs. Neither wants to ruin what they have by getting sexually involved, so both Jamie and Lennox tamp down on their mutual attraction and pretend it doesn’t exist. Until one night when their wills are stretched too thin and everything changes.

I absolutely adore a good friends to lovers story and Addicted is an excellent one. The love Lennox and Jamie have for one another is so strong and clear from the start that you can’t help but root for these two to get together. The sexual tension between them is out of control and too hot for words, and when they give into their desires… Well, Ms. Kennedy is a master of erotic romance so suffice it to say you’re in for one heck of a treat. The Outlaws series is set in a world where people live knowing any moment could be their last, so sex is frequent, sizzling, and ménages aren’t off the table. Simply put, this story isn’t for the faint of heart.

Heat factor aside, Addicted is compelling because Lennox and Jamie are an incredibly good fit and it’s clear to anyone that it would only take a light breeze to push them both over the line from “love” to “in love.” Their shared history makes the romance strong, but that doesn’t mean things are easy for them. Falling into bed changes the dynamic of their relationship and neither of them handles it well all the time. Both of them make mistakes, inadvertently hurt one another, and have to be brave enough to open themselves completely if they have a hope of making a life together as more than friends.

The world of the outlaws that Ms. Kennedy first introduced in Claimed intrigued me, and I loved getting to dive further into it in this story. It’s a dark, sometimes bleak world where good people are forced to be ruthless in order to survive. And survival doesn’t come without cost – Ms. Kennedy keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering if the characters who grab your heart will make it through. In many ways, Addicted is a bridge book, bringing readers further into the world and setting up for big events that are to occur in the future. It’s difficult to say more without spoiling the story, so I’ll leave it by saying the events of Addicted left me desperate to get my hands on the next Outlaws book, Ruled.

Addicted is an exciting story with incredibly strong, interesting, passionate characters and a wickedly hot romance. I loved it and I cannot wait to see where Ms. Kennedy takes readers next!
