I am giving this book 3 stars, because it felt flat to me for the first half and read more like YA, with erotica added in. I enjoyed the interactions between Azrael, Mal, and Jessica and look forward to book 2.

My first venture into succubus/incubus territory and I really enjoyed it! I loved the fantasy aspects and that I wasn't overwhelmed with them or confused. I really enjoyed the world-building and the characters! Oh and I really liked the emphasis on consent with all the sexual scenes.
Maybe a bit predictable and not the best writing (though far from the worst!) but I really enjoyed it and was very entertained! Perfect escapism book and now I am anxious to see what happens in the next book!

I honestly did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I love how endearingly sweet and playful all of the main characters are.

This series are definitely discrete books in a way the necromancer series are not.
These stories have strong (if slightly odd) world building, strong plot arcs and strong relationship arcs with 2 out of 3 MCs who happen to be really into sex in a very cheerful way. There is no shame or debate, just wheee! . It’s very refreshing.
There is plot tension (and some romantic tension) - and the resolution in each book is not always quite what I expected.
As with the Knight books, the characters are delightful and you just want to hang out with them.

A very intriguing series-starter! A.H. Lee once again manages to write characters who are deeply lovable and refreshingly different from one another. Just like in her The Knight & The Necromancer series set in the same world, even secondary characters get to shine. Plus, the use of magic is really fascinating. Can't wait to see how Mal, Jessica and Azriel's story will play out...
