The second of Lounsberry’s three book close reading of Virginia Woolf’s diaries proves a fascinating read. Being able to learn about the diaries and notebooks that she herself was reading adds another layer to the diaries themselves. While still aimed primarily at an academic audience, the text is accessible and does not jump around too much; these helps to maintain the central narrative. I found this volume more interesting that the first, perhaps because of the period of Woolf’s life covered by these middle diaries.
