I just really needed to read a book like this right now. It felt close to me right now mostly 2023 me. Lucy was a unique character and it was interesting to read a book that felt similar to the life I’m living. That’s probably too much to reveal on Libby but like I’m keeping it real. I liked this because of how real it was. I feel idk if Lucy changed much, I hope so but as someone living a similar life currently, I don’t know because I’ve made temporary changes and then went back to my old self. Very emotional, funny at times. Probably a very weird niche read for some idrk.

Relatable!! Bdsm porn❤️

“I wonder if it’s my fault that I can’t vocalize my own boundaries. I don’t think he thinks he’s hurting me; or rather, I think he thinks I’m into it, the way he is. And the problem is, in many ways, I am into it. He will hit me harder than I would like, and I wonder if I should say something, but then I go home and I touch myself to the memory. ”

what a weirdly structured book
like it was honestly so all over the place and my only thought as I finished it was “that’s it??”
reading this immediately after a novel obsession was interesting since they both essentially have the same premise (20 something woman in the big city finally finds something to write about) but go in completely different directions. there was a lot in here that I liked but I’m not sure that it all fit together properly.

ok spoilers ahead so beware!!!!
like all the bdsm/kink/relationship stuff wasn’t really my cup of tea and it felt very disjointed from like each other and the rest of what was going on. like henry was essentially the first 20% of the book and then that whole thing is like completely dropped??? idk it was weird
by far the best part of this was the stuff about smash like omlll I wish it could’ve just been all about that with her relationships with nora and sasha as the side plots and scrap everything else because it was really cool to read about. i can get behind the whole chester is a pig and she was wrong about the zine but i just wish we saw more in general about smash.

overall not a bad read but not sure if id recommend it over others of a similar nature

Good Girl: Good Book

For something so smutty, the character development and story line is phenomenal. It’s not a story about a fetish, it’s a story about a girl finding herself outside of sex. I enjoyed highly!

Lucy is by no means a perfect character - and that’s exactly what I love about her. She’s been written in such a raw, flawed human that you can’t help but relate to her and forgive her for all her shortcomings (because we are all flawed beings) Contrary to most of the other reviews, I feel it ended completely and perfectly. There are minor moments of growth within Lucy and towards the end, her interaction with Danny is so humbling and shows that you don’t become a completely different person overnight. I love how the author perfectly encapsulates that frustrated restlessness of being stuck in place while thinking you’re special, the desire for immediate affection. Very beautifully written. I’ve missed reading contemporary fiction!!!!

I am thrilled by the writing of this author yet taken aback by the middle to ending as i didnt expect her to be entrenched in a toxicy relationship and am a bit troubled by how it ended? or confused? But i am so so so so excited to read more, very curious to see future writing!!!! i want more!!!
