Good story. The sexual innuendo etc was strange sometimes. I’ve read plenty of books in this time period and usually words like “maidenhead” and “plowing” are in the trashy romance novels. Which I also enjoy, but came across as odd here. The story is very interesting though and I didn’t realize until the end that the tapestries are real and they are incredible!

What an incredibly lusty novel. Lust - for recognition, for glory, for sex - propels this novel forward. 250+ pages is considered a relatively short novel, but Chevalier managed to depict the characters rather believably. Their motives and backgrounds are rich, and their fates are intricately interwoven with each other, just like the six tapestries of Le Viste's.

Disappointing. The story of the tapestry itself kept me reading, but the overall story and characters fell flat.
