Not gna lie, this book gave me the feelz.

She was so sweet, borderline eye-roll worthy really. Then you get hit as to why she's like that and you, at least I did, you see it as a strength. I know, I know it's a fictional story, but I would never have that kind of inner strength.

He was a bit of an ass, but has his reasons for it. Semi-spoiler alert: One of my favorite parts was when he went all Conor McGregor. #ViolenceIsNeverTheAnswer #ButSometimesItIS =P

TW: mention of past rape, death of children

I have a lot of thoughts about the characters of this book. The author did a wonderful job with writing the hero and heroine. These characters felt very human.

This book made me think a lot about how one deals with circumstances that just happen in life. I loved that the heroine optimism was treated as a choice. She chose to see the glass half full, without losing sight of reality. The strength to see the bright side in everything she went through is astounding. And the fact that the hero chose to do the opposite and I’ve everyone out was a great juxtaposition.

A new to me author. Unfortunately, I didn't particularly enjoyed the story. The heroine is a doormat. I like my heroines to be feisty and strong willed. Someone who will forged her own path. The heroine here is a people pleaser and I got so irritated with her. The hero is a clichéd Duke character, ice around the heart after losing his wife and children. I couldn't warm up to either characters. I saw the reviews and was disappointed that I find the book isn't as good as the reviews.

It was cute and Abigail's personality was endearing.

Summary: Abigail is a spinster after having to flee her first season in scandal and she's forced to attend a house party by her mother. After getting into another scandal with a duke there, he decides marry her. Love ensues.

A relatable heroine

I’m in the process of reading this entire series along with the authors book club. I have to say Abigail is my favorite heroine so far!! I relate to her so much, sometimes it made it hard to breath. She is strong yet vulnerable and that’s real life!! Alex our hero is very alluring and didn’t fail me in living up to my expectations. If you’re looking for a good romance with relatable characters that will make you smile, laugh, and even cry, the give this book a shot!!
