A pretty solidly three star collection. Novellas in general are prone to instalove of course, but these stories seemed suuuuper instalovey.

Boyfriend Shopping (Earl Sewell) - 2.5 stars

This was a case of the writing style not meshing with me at all. I actually flipped to the front of the book to see when it was written, because it was totally giving vibes of early 2000s YA with comments like “better change your relationship status on Facebook” or whatever. I also didn’t like the girl on girl drama, though I did like that Anna stood up for what she wanted.

My Only Wish (Caridad Ferrer) - 2 stars

I did not like David at all. I’m not a fan of the “reformed player” trope and I didn’t really like hearing about all of his conquests. I liked the friendship between Claudia and her roommate though.

All I Want for Christmas is You (Deidre Berry) - 3.5 stars

Initially, I didn’t like this story at all. Bree has broken up with her boyfriend because she suspects him of cheating and when he can’t give her a straight answer, she dumps him, and then proceeds to rant to everyone about how horrible he is for cheating on her (even though she never bothered to confirm that he actually did). However, this one ended up being my favorite in the collection because of Bree’s character growth. She learns the truth about Lance (that he and his family are living in a homeless shelter) and teams up with her church to help them find a place to live. I wasn’t a fan of the love triangle, but Bree became a lot more sweet and less judgmental so I was able to overlook it.
