Not a huge fan of the style of writing but I am a fan of the stories, so this is hard to rate, because 100 years ago this would have been an excellent read for me, but I would like more these days.

Obviously disturbing, quite spooky, and definitely fun to read. This is a good compilation of H.P. Lovecraft's stories and gives a really good sense of his ideas and how he influenced modern horror so deeply.

Alan Moore speaks eloquently to where Lovecraft stands in history. While the 19th century imagined a rational machine, WWI and scientific progress opened our eyes to howling, unknowable chaos. Such unprecedented scale of horror is sometimes made difficult by clunky gothic prose, but the chills are visceral and occasionally grossly racist.

Boring AF except for "the thing on the doorstep" and "the shadow over innsmouth" , those were pretty cool. The rest were a snoozefest.
