The ONLY thing keeping me invested in this series in Lysander bc for the love of God Eroan needs to get his head out of his ass (and frankly Lysander needs to stop feeling sorry for himself and kill eeryone). Seriously, the separation/miscommunication could not have happened more times here, it was driving me nits (fully expect in the next book too though, unfortunately). Frankly, it's astounding they managed to fall in love at all seeing as they spend a total of like 3 days together

What an excellent follow up this was. All the aspects of the story that I enjoyed in book one, like the world building, were present, but there was so much more to enjoy. There were so many twists and turns in the plot I was always left guessing as to what was coming next. This book was also full of action with a lot of fights between characters, larger group battles, and secret rescue missions, to name a few examples. I couldn't put the book down because I wanted to see just how our MCs, Eroan and Llysander, were going to get out of the various obstacles and dilemmas that stood in their way. As there is still one more book in the series/story arc, there is obviously still quite a way for them to go and a lot of loose ends to tie up (ie people that need to be ended), but I am certainly excited to see exactly what becomes of this world by the end.

This story picks up immediately where the last one ended. It’s also very dark and has less TWs, which I thought was a little weird.

Lysander is no longer in his mothers prison but he’s not free. After escaping his brother, after once again thinking Eroan is dead, Lysander escapes to the Bronze. The Bronze are vicious and brutal and they want Lysander. But Lysander isn’t the same as the dragons, he doesn’t want to kill all elves. Eroan made it back to his village but he’s not the same elf who left. He needs to make things right and he needs to protect his people, so he decides to head to the humans but to get there he needs to pass through the Bronze territory.

This story is when Lysander and Eroan’s relationship really starts to develop. Although they know that they can’t be together they also can’t stay away from each other either. The story also gets more interesting and more understandable in this book.

This book had a bit more streamlining in terms of the ultimate plot, but I still got a little lost in terms of what exactly the non-romantic goals of both Eroan and Lysander were. I guess the bronze guy is the main bad guy? But I felt the writing was pushing me toward Akiem, and I just didn't feel the tension/draw that the book seemed to want me to have. I remain most intrigued by the two main characters themselves.
