Reading this book again felt so good. I still love it very much. The story is portrayed realistically and I connected very well with the characters, especially with the protagonist Kate.

There are no clichés, Meg is not the typical "Evil Stepmom" and I love how this book also actually gets political and doesn't just brush over some political topics. The book is set during the presidential campaign and we get a "behind the scenes" of it which is very interesting.

Family is moreover another big topic as Kate is slowly settling in with her new, with her dad's family. The romance arc is existent and sweet but it doesn't become the main plotline which I very much appreciate.

I look forward to future rereads of this book!

I really liked it. It was a good quality wattpad esque novel. The thing that every wattpad novel about swanky business CEO's tries to capture. But this book nailed it. I loved all of the politics and the drama. Specifically the scandals. I also thought that this was solid in terms of characters. Most often times the characters in these books are far too two demensional and never have any thought behind their actions. I was quick to like Kate, and even quicker to fall in love with all the people she gained thoughtful relationships with. There are many aspects of this book I found interesting. Such as being inside of American politics being a Canadian myself, and the relationship Kate begins to form with Meg. As well as Andy. But I mean I'm a sucker for a cutesy forbidden romance. (Provided that it doesn't end in said couple committing joint suicide *cough Romeo and Juliet cough*) Very entertaining and a nice light summer read. Also insanely gorgeous.

Really enjoyed this one. The story was simple and easy to read. I just wish there was a little more. But it would be perfect for taking on vacation and crushing in a couple of days beside the water.

3.5 stars. This book is a little cheesy at times but actually handles the immigration topic pretty decently, albeit from a white teenage girl's perspective, and the heart of it - about Kate getting to know her family - is lovely. The marketing focuses mostly on the romance but it really only takes up about a quarter of the book, and I liked that. It was very cute and enjoyable but didn't need to be front and center. I also like that by the end, the couple hasn't made dramatic declarations of love. It felt like a very normal kind of first relationship in that way. My biggest problem with this book is actually something that was outside of the author's control, and that's my particular cover. I'm sorry, but seeing a white, cishet couple on the cover of a book with the tagline "Their love is politically incorrect" kind of made me want to gag a little every time I saw it.

This type of book isn't my usual. That being said, I finished it and enjoyed it overall.
The protagonist can be a bit dull at times, but she had a unique ability to come back strong and almost make you forget she was previously cardboard.
Likeable romance? Not so much on this one.
The characters were well written, as well as the fact that the idea for the story was original.

This book was so predictable and the ending was pretty expected. The story line was good, but the characters are not that developed.

I accidentally read it a second time.
I have no recollection of the book the first time. Clearly. I bought it and I went "did I read this? No there was another book like this at the same time. It has to be that one." But. Apparently it wasn't.

I still enjoyed it a second time. It was fluff and that is exactly what I'm looking for. The romance was secondary and that was good too. It was just cute :)

Beautiful story that revolves mostly on family and self-identity. I connected with many characters and the story line was realistic and not super dramatic.

so i did not finish this, but since i read 75% of it, i figure that warranted me being able to mark it as read. it's not that this book was bad, it just did not do anything special or new for me. i really enjoyed the political side of things in this book, which isn't really reflected much in YA, but i felt the love story, which got a BIT TOO MUCH ATTENTION, was insta-lovey and annoying, like i couldn't see why this guy would like this girl with the 3 interactions they had.. idk, i really fucking tried
