NYT Notable Books 2021: 20/100

When I learned that Lockwood is also the author of the Miette tweet (thousand years jail for mother!), I figured I would likely enjoy this book. While I think it might be a bit niche for some folks, as a child of the internet and constant doom-scroller, I loved it. The balance of the absurdity of some of the internet (and sometimes just the idea of the internet in general) with the protagonist's real life struggles was fantastic. I like how quickly things moved and how it really felt like scrolling down a news feed. I can see why this book wouldn't be for everyone, but it really struck and chord with me and I look forward to reading more by Lockwood!

Imagine my surprise when I finished another sad book and picked up this one to finish the second half of what I thought was a fun, goofy read.

Patricia Lockwood is so good at making you laugh and cry in the same sentence.
