It was a good book but not my kind of style. Some things were predictable while others were not expected, told though multiple perspectives some were good whilst others were a bit boring at times.

This book was extremely sad, but realistic to todays society. The pacing was fast, which I really liked, but I was confused about the characters in the beginning and felt I had to write down who was who and who knew who, etc etc. Overall, I think the book was written very well and emotionally and the only flaw this book had was the random chapters that were not needed and the lack of explanation. Other than that, if you are looking to enjoy an emotional, intense rollercoaster, this is the perfect book for you.
I will never be getting over Tómas’ death.

A well written book with a powerful message. No one should ever need to worry about being put in this situation. You want everyone to escape. You want someone to get the gun away from him. You hope someone can get through to him. You want the brutality to end...but it just keeps going.

Every time I read this book, it emotionally destroys me. It is similar to an out-of-body experience. You will cry if you read this, even if you usually don't. It is a deep and sickeningly realistic depiction of what it is like to experience trauma and its effects on the community, including the beginnings of collective community trauma. There is a main character who is a queer domestic violence survivor, and her story is so thought out, so real it is as though she is guiding you through this book. this read hurt my heart and helped me feel.

i cried so fucking hard reading this book

usually when i say that i’m exaggerating, but i swear to god i am not lying this time

i didn’t cry until page 248. but once i started crying i didn’t stop
this is when tomás died. he was my favorite character… it’s always the favorite characters that get killed

when i cry reading a book, the rating automatically jumps up to 5 stars

this is the first time i’ve genuinely cried reading a book. it could just be bc i was emotional in general today, but it made me cry nonetheless

i adored all the characters. even the side characters mentioned briefly. the lives lost in this book crushed me

FUCK YOU, MARIEKE NIKKAMP, FOR MAKING ME CRY

BUT ALSO THANK YOU THIS STORY WAS AMAZING

Overall a nice book but definitely really triggering. And the main problem people seemed to have with this book was of the black and white characters, yeah I get it. All the characters were either black or white.
And frankly I really didn't care about some of the characters pov some times

Tomas' death broke my heart </3
