I didn't like this at all.

The main character was awful; her dad had just died and she has no feelings about this. I can't read something when I don't like the main character. She sounded a little psychopathic.

The plot was so sporadic. There should have been a guide, which said the plot is currently on a bender. Come back soon...

This book honestly started off pretty slow and confusing. It’s very descriptive (sometimes wordy), but once the plot picked up, I legit couldn’t put it down. Very intense kind of detective mystery book. I won’t read the rest of the series but this one is okay as a stand alone and I really enjoyed it by the end!

(DNF - pg. 61) Didn’t connect with the characters and didn’t like the style so gave up as life is too short.

Stella Darnell is the detective's daughter. She is also compulsive about cleaning which is why she runs a cleaning company. She wants everything to be just so. No one is good enough and she distrusts most people. When her father father dies from a heart attach she takes on the task of clearing out his house. During which she finds case notes from an unsolved case from 30 years ago that her father was working on even though he had retired. Not wanting to leaving something unfinished she is slowly drawn into trying to solve the case. She is but one of the strange characters to populate this book. It seems they are all compulsive about something. And to be honest they got annoying.

There is a lot I didn't like about this novel. The number one thing is how the connection with the killer is established. A random event is just a lazy way to solve a crime. Plus it's too long. A third of this book could have been left out.

I'm left feeling disappointed and almost worthy of only one star.

I actually quite enjoyed this. Definitely not a 5 star read for me but it turned out rather decent. I still think it was a bit too long and could've been written with less words but i enjoyed the storyline and it was overall intriguing. As a reader you keep finding out new things and some of them didn't feel important (to me) at all but some were exactly what the story needed to make it interesting.
