Ummm…all I can say is wow! And I am immediately diving into the third book.

I can’t believe it has taking me this long to start reading Stephen King. After I am done with this trilogy, I am starting at the beginning.

This is the kind of Stephen King I love most, and a cliffhanger to boot!

Slow in the middle waiting for the last 15-20% of the book when the main two characters meet.

The pacing and tension of this book feels incredibly dull when read back to back with the first installment of the series. The mystery was not very exciting. But it's still a King novel so I didn't hate it.

I genuinely really liked Mr. Mercedes, but this book was a huge let down. King tries to repeat the structure of Mr. Mercedes, with the criminal and protagonists perspectives alternating, but it fails the bring the tension it did in the first book. Pete Saubers and his family are not very interesting characters, and the characters that we are already invested in are barely in the book. Morris is a much blander version of Brady and is too pathetic to provoke much terror. I’m hesitantly hopeful for End of Watch, assuming it follows the plot hook of Brady’s
possible telekinesis
.
