The book is really confusing at first, but you understand the book world easily from half the story. I really liked it! More on my Skoob.

Interesting premise, but the back blurb doesn’t say what the book is really about. I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I would like to enjoy a book, so it was a tad boring but still kept my attention. I read the back blurb for the second book and it makes no mention of a relatively important detail that will carry over, but it might be the same situation as this book. Won’t continue reading. And my biggest issue with the slight romance plot line…
Spoiler so she gets with this guy who is essentially her captor. If he did his duty, it would be a master/slave relationship (books words) but instead they try to make it a mentor/mentee one but like… doesn’t change the fact that this guy has so much power over her. Like sure he helps her, but there’s such a massive power imbalance that I wouldn’t be ok with it in anyway. He’s the one keeping her alive, and while she’s saved him a few times, I’m still uncomfortable and I don’t like how this wasn’t advertised. If you enjoy that trop though, then try this book.
