I love historical fiction and this was a great read appreciated more after reading the 1000 White Women series by the same author. The diary style really brings you into their world and I appreciate the authors ability to build characters from completely different backgrounds.

This was actually a great little read! The characters were interesting and engaging (LOVED Tolley, can we be best friends?? LOL), the storyline was well developed and full of details, just a great, well written, funny at times, always compelling little yarn! I recently bought 1000 White Women by this same author and now I can't wait to dive into that one also!

I absolutely love Jim Fergus' writings. I am not a western fan at all but both of his books have been wonderfully captivating.
