A moving tale about the preciousness of all living things.

Ghostbear is seemingly the last of his kind, as evident by his wanderings across the vast and deserted Arctic landscape. McDermott has skilfully – both through his words and illustrations – crafted a tale about a young polar bear cub who finally re-joins all those who used to be around him.

The melancholic atmosphere within the piece has made me reflect on the fragility of all living things, and how it is so important to think about the impact you might be having on the world before it is all too late.

Though I might not share this one with my nieces just yet, it is definitely a story that has a message that will linger with you long after you have finished.

Thank you @scholastic_au for gifting me a copy to read and review!

Maybe 3.5 stars. Absolutely beautiful, compelling artwork accompanies a sad story about our changing world and the lost and lonely creatures within it. I'm not sure I understand the message behind the ending, but enjoyed the book anyway.
