A great slowing down of the pace if you’re reading all books in published order. The characters are more down to earth, despite the larger than life events happening around them. It has a Black Company vibe in that way. I recommend the book, definitely, but take stars away because sometimes the plot is a little confusing. I appreciate Kiska’s sense of entitlement, it adds to her youth, and I like Temper’s exhaustion, it adds to his age. 

Great characters, fun story.
