I liked the characters in this book. Maybe I'm reading too many contemporary romance novels lately, but for whatever reason I didn't have a strong urge that I couldn't put this one down. I would probably read the next in the series just to see how things work out, but it's not on my immediate TBR list.

I have to start off by saying, Sea Swept was not as good as I had imagined. Not to mention a few people had recommend that I read this book, so I was thinking it was going to be worth my time. But, sadly it was not. The story was just kind of Bla…….. Cameron and Anna meet they fight for Seth, they fall in love. That is pretty much the extent of the story. There was only one part that was a little suspenseful. That hooked me and it lasted only a couple pages. Then the book went back to its original “bla-ness”.
This book by Nora Roberts was sadly way to slow for my taste. I had such high hopes for the first Contemporary romance that I had read in a few months and this was definitely not a good start. No I haven’t given up on Nora Roberts but I can just say I hope all of her books aren’t as slow as Sea Swept.
Hopefully the Next Contemporary Romance I read will be better. It wouldn’t take much but…….
So if you want to read Sea Swept go ahead but I wouldn’t recommend it.

I'm glad I gave Nora Roberts another chance with this one, but still can't say I loved it. I really did like Cam, and I liked Anna, but I'm not sure I liked them together. There seemed to be more about each one individually than the two of them together. This has a bit of an old-school romance vibe to it, which I don't always like.

Dud. The chemistry was way over the top and I skipped the sex scenes because they felt unrealistic or completely too fast and I found myself rolling my eyes. I finished it just to see what would happen with the plot (the boy, the brothers) and then the ending left all the big questions unanswered, and not in a skillful way. I'm not reading any more of this trilogy. I liked the characters at times but then the romance just killed it for me. Not my thing.

Roberts’ characters are instantly likeable, individual, and have complex personalities. While the female characters are invariably intelligent, beautiful and maintain equal partnerships with men, Roberts is especially adept at writing male characters that are both strong and vulnerable. Much of the novel revolves around the interactions of the brothers. Their numerous arguments are realistic and hilarious, but it’s their strong bond as brothers that makes Sea Swept so heart-warming. Even though they are not related by blood, the Quinns feel like a family; they have their differences, but they are ultimately loyal and would do anything for each other. This is especially effective in one scene when the three adult Quinns defend Seth as his school accuses him of fighting. The shock and delight that Seth displays at his new brothers sticking up for him when all he has previously known is suffering and neglect is beautifully realised.
Roberts writes Seth extremely convincingly; he is tough, angry, snotty, vulnerable and afraid, and yet he’s still just a boy who needs people to care for him. While Seth fights the Quinns throughout the novel, they gradually enfold him in their family. The transformation of Seth from a frightened child into a confident Quinn is one of the best parts of the book.
Sea Swept is an enjoyable read, although readers expecting another typical romance novel will be disappointed as the central love story in Sea Swept is that of four brothers.

Enjoyable enough to keep reading the series as some light fun, but definitely a reminder why I don’t read romance written last century. Definitely some parts that rub the wrong way a little.

literally all the side characters were more interesting than the main one, and the romance was so forced/painfully cringeworthy
