This manga pulls you in with a strange title and then breaks your heart at the end with a less cringey but still reminiscent of The Fault in Our Stars story about two high schoolers who meet while one is dying of terminal illness. Although there are some awkward moments along the way, the character development in this one is strong and the messages about connecting with others are resounding. I loved the reference and parallels to Sakura's favorite book The Little Prince and found that some of the deep and emotional messages in that book really rang true in this one. I can't wait to watch the anime movie adaptation of this and sob lol.

This book is not in my wheelhouse at all (some aspects are in my doghouse) but it was amazingly written, using several very original writing techniques that added a level of feeling to it that is unparalleled. That being said I cried my eyes out

I’m coming to realize that Sumino’s style is to present you with an intriguing and unique plot, but the twists and turns leave you contemplating so much more. Sumino is great at gradually revealing new information.
