I usually don't read horror/thriller mystery books but this book was very good. The story unfolds in present day and back when the murder happened. The interesting thing about this plot is you don't exactly know why they were murdered and throughout the whole book the suspect is constantly changing. It is a slower read but it is still very good.
I think the author did a wonderful job of showing the monstrous sides of these characters. It was hard to really truly like any of them because of how dark their other side was. I would say this is not only. thriller mystery but also has a psychological aspect to it. I thought I had it figured out, but I was completely wrong. I like being surprised by the ending. Not only that but you can tell the author thought out the plot extensively.
In conclusion, I really think the author did a great job of exploring the darker parts of the human conscious and revealling that each of the characters could be just as guilty as the last.

In 1995, 6 college stidents move into a campus party house, but one of them doesn't survive the school year. Twenty years later, the 5 surviving housemates find themselves lured together again under false pretenses to a remote bed and breakfast in Scotland. Who will make it out alive this time?
This had such a great premise and gave me all the "Clue" vibes, but something just never connected for me. I found I didn't care for any of the characters or care if they made it out alive. I also wasn't a fan of the way the timeline and perspectives jumped all around as it felt clunky and not fluid. It was interesting but not the knock out I hoped for.

The title itself should give you a clue that you won't like the characters - they all did bad things. But, were they bad enough to be killed for? The story jumps all over the place and is at first a little hard to keep up with, but that is part of what made it a really good mystery. If you love Agatha Christie type mysteries, ala And Then There Were None, and the game of Clue you will love seeing if you can follow all of the clues and figure out who did what and when. The ending was outstanding and I definitely didn't see it coming. Now I need to reread it to find all of the clues I missed!

Six university students move in together for a house share at the start of the school year, but months later, one is found dead on the living room sofa following a party. The police rule the death accidental, but the five remaining housemates know what happened that night, and move on with their lives, keeping this secret.
Twenty years later, they are lured to Wolfheather House under various pretenses, for a weekend away at a secluded mansion. As they are cut off from the outside world and escape, they are murdered one-by-one and forced to confront their past and determine who has brought them together for revenge.
Liked:
- The plot had a Clue-meets-And Then There Were None-feel to it, but got a little nutty towards the end.
- I loved the setting of Wolfheather House and could imagine this crumbling old building tucked away on a Scottish isle.
- The story had a bit of a slow burn that I was fine with, but if you're looking for a quick page-turner, I don't think this will be for you.
Didn't Like:
- I had a VERY hard time keeping the female characters straight - this could just be my brain right now, but for some reason I struggled with who was who and who did what.
- The time jumps were frequent and sometimes jarring.
- The ending was a bit outlandish, but I am always willing to overlook this in the presence of amazing storytelling.

Absolutely a superior read. Very fast, I was completely engaged in trying to figure out who/what/when/where! Recommended by The Fantastic Stranglings book club I cannot recommend this to enough people. In Alfred Hitchock Who-Done-It style the characters are engaging, the writing is catchy, and it really makes you second guess yourself.
