Anything I did like about this one was overshadowed by everything I didn’t. This moderately interesting premise would go over better without the “fan service” for lack of a better term.

A bit much in terms of fanservice and cheesecake, but if you're willing to ignore that, it's otherwise brilliantly made. I can see a bit of a Holmes and Watson relationship between Yumeko and Ryota, and I hope it's further developed. My favorite part was definitely the explanations of the games and the way Yumeko deduced the cheating mechanisms as they got more and more complex. I also enjoyed that Yumeko isn't quite a Mary Sue- even if she's highly intelligent, she can fail. It's also interesting to suss out whether Yumeko's just an intelligent gambling addict with sociopathic tendencies aside from that or whether she genuinely has scruples aside from that. I lean somewhat for the latter, based on her criticism of hierarchical systems, but it'll be interesting to find out.

My favorite illustration for this volume was the illustration of Matthew 25:29. Everyone would read their Bibles, whatever their faith, if that was in there.

I really liked this, the artwork is pretty good. I think it's a good first volume, and it's definitely as weird as people have been saying it is. But I do like it, I also like how the characters are older in this and aren't 14/15, like Future Diary and Call of the Night is about that age range. Since I am almost 17, I feel weird reading topics younger than me, even if I'm not that much older. And especially if it deals with sexual topics. But that aside, this is at the top.

1. Kakegurui
2. Call of the Night
3. Future Diary
4. SINoALICE

pretty interesting story in terms of talking about gambling, gambling addiction, losing large amounts of money and with it your social status. i'm looking forward to what else this manga has to say about capitalism, money and power, because the little commentaries were promising already.

would've been a 5 star from me if there weren't so many up-skirting panels (wtf, why) and the ending was a little unsatisfying to me.

The more I think about the sexualisation of minors the more I hate it.
