And there he was folks. My Prince Charming, butt naked, passed out on my daughter’s Disney princess bed sheets.
The beautiful balance of sweetness and heartbreak this book offered! This is a story about the struggle of healing, and the beautiful parts that come with it. Emery and Oliver became each other’s anchors, each other’s guiding light. They were both plagued by so much sadness, they were each nearly drowning. Barely afloat. I felt like I was sinking with them. Oliver knows no bounds when it comes to making sure Emery has everything she needs. Taking away all her worries, standing by her side without any hesitation. I have such a weakness for Oliver. I want to be the one who asks him are you okay, but I’m more than happy that Emery gets to do it. They may have a great bond, but nothing prepared me for the beautiful bond that effortlessly forms between Oliver and Reese. My emotions were hanging on by a thread already, but when Oliver confessed his heart, forget it! I was a goner! I've found a new favorite author in Brittainy Cherry!

Stamped my heart.
Just wow! I can’t believe how much this book made me feel. I’m actually still crying while typing this. This is only my third book by this author but it’s my favorite! I’m glad I didn’t wait to read it.

this was really cute just a bit fastpaced like characters meet then 2 days later they seemingly know all about each other, oliver and emery are so cute just would have been better if it was more of a slowburn. still an easy read regarding

Every thing about Emery and Oliver's story was so heartfelt. I experienced happiness, sadness, and anger with this book.
With Oliver after losing someone who literally is your other half, the pain that he endured and the thoughts are so common for us in real life. Seeing him slowly being brought back to life after such a tragedy was a beautiful thing.
Emery was just a beautiful person, even when she was struggling she kept on trying her best. She believed that things were only temporary and that there was a light at the end of the tunnel.
She was Oliver's light and there story was one that i will never forget.
P.S: I freaking loved Reese and if it aint obvious, Emery and Sammie's parents deserve a special place in Hell.

Wow what an emotional story. Oliver hasn’t been the same since he tragically lost his twin brother, very best friend, and other half. How does one cope with something so heavy? In his case, it was whisky. He doesn’t want to be here anymore, not until Emery. Emery also isn’t in a good spot in life, they fall into each others lives at the perfect time. Emery is the definition of sunlight, I loved everything about her character. The reason I didn’t give this book 5 stars was the fact that the love in this book between Oliver and Em felt rushed and wasn’t described as deeply was I would have wanted.

I need to start off by saying that I really enjoyed the first half of this book. It flowed really well, there was a great buildup, and the character’s struggles were palpable. But then, the train went off the tracks for me. (Some spoilers of the third act below)
This book is labeled as a romance, but it was buried under all the other stuff going on — family drama, single mom struggles, depression, grief, industry gossip, religious zealot/authoritarian parents… there was no time for the romance to build. Emery and Oliver interacted with each other, and the next thing I knew — they were in love. It felt like their love and relationship was an afterthought.
I liked Emery’s character. She was strong and never gave up. She stood her ground time and time again, finding solutions no matter what life hit her with. But when she needed to have a backbone the most, when her entire world literally crumbled in front of her eyes, she succumbed. She gave in to bullying. She let other people get to her and stopped trying to find solutions. She shut out the very people that had the means and the ability to help her. That didn’t fit her character at all, in my eyes.
Oliver was… okay. He was battling through depression and grief, and understandably so, but that was essentially his entire character. And after no more character dimension, I kinda just stopped caring. I did like his interactions with Reese, Emery’s daughter, though.
Can we talk about Emery’s parents? Why do all religious parents have to be so authoritarian? I understand that it’s common and very traumatizing, but do all religious parents have to fit this stereotype? Her parents were so toxic and I absolutely hated them, but they didn’t have to be the villains in this story. It felt lazy to me.
Very disappointed. This had such a promising start and then it absolutely nosedived.

3.5⭐ This was an okay read. It had lots of topics that were addressed but were very superficially touched. Still a sweet story and I was happy there were no stupid toxic aspects of the MC relationship. This story has topics of grief, family domestic abuse, r-ape, depression. Don't expect a lot of spicy scenes as this is not the focus of the story and the ones that exist felt very PG. It was a decent read and if you want a little angst without too much heaviness give it a go.
