le guin was on fire here. i read an older copy (before the updated version with her revisions and commentary), so i don't necessarily agree with everything she said, but her insights into fantasy and scifi and arguments for the necessity of these kinds of stories are so well-done and thought-provoking. she writes analysis just as well as she writes fiction.
