Lots of interesting info on Anglo-Irish humor and not much on literally any other kind of humor

I did not enjoy the book at all. I struggled to finish it. Though it is short, it is far from being a light read. This is the first book I read for the author, it seems from the other reviews that this a familiar style of writing for him.
I found it to be circulating more or less around one idea. Filled with references to other literature, which of course, makes sense since it is a literary criticism, I guess, but I mean it is FILLED with it.
it's funny how a book about humor can be so tedious
