Charlie is an out gay teenage boy who’s constantly in the limelight because of his sexuality. Despite the rumors that circulate about him, Nick still wants to be his friend, which catches Charlie off guard. Until then, he was used to getting bullied by boys like him. After seeing the boy who he’s been meeting with in private with a girl, he tries ending that relationship, but the other boy won’t take no for an answer. Luckily for Charlie, Nick swoops in to save the day.
After the incident, Charlie and Nick become closer. Their relationship is so sweet and wholesome, and as they spend more time with each other, Charlie starts to develop feelings for him. Nick on the other hand is confused since he’s always liked girls. Alice Oseman did well in writing about self discovery and acceptance as a teenager in an all boys school…the characters are very realistic when dealing with guilt, crushes, and trying to survive high school. I can’t wait to see how things go and of course, watch the show :)

Summary:
Heartstopper is a webcomic that has been recently published in physical format. It follows Nick and Charlie, side characters in Alice Oseman's debut novel Solitaire.
Characters 5/5:
I absolutely adore Nick and Charlie and always have. I really loved that they seemed like actual real teenagers struggling with their own perceptions of the world and how they want other people to think of them, while falling in love in the process.
Plot 4/5:
This has a pretty cute plot. Although its primarily a love story we have some interesting tension and dynamics between some side characters and its really just SUPER cute.
Art Style 5/5:
I love Alice's simplistic art style that has some elements of manga. It's just very adorable!
Setting and atmosphere 4/5:
Not the biggest focus of this series, but you can really feel and see the school setting and how that ties in to everything.
I love this series. It's so sweet and cute. I also definitely recommend Solitaire for people wanting a novel, rather than a graphic novel/comic.
