A powerful, insightful and incredibly well-written story that sheds light on how women survive and reclaim agency in the wake of their abuse. As the author guides you through her investigation of the 2001 CU Boulder football recruit rape cases, she also reckons with her own history of abuse and its then-present reverberations in her personal and professional life.

This was a harrowing story of a prolific sexual assault case and just how far someone will go to protect reputations, status, and integrity. Hearing the details of the case and

how easily it was thrown out

makes my blood boil, but

in the end, justice prevailed.

I found it interesting how Erika let her own trauma and past drive the investigation and court case, and her determination when every  odd was against her was inspiring.

This was a very difficult read. The book is very well done and I was thoroughly invested in the victims of the case discussed, as well as the author and her own personal story. This book made me gasp, shake my head, stop and gather myself,  cry, and scream in anger. It is not for the faint of heart. All the trigger warnings for any and all sexual assault and abuse. Seriously. It is difficult but the case involved is so important. I was fascinated by the investigative work done.

There are portions of this book that cuts deep, and then other pieces of her life and trauma thrown in that was dark and very icky, and seemed really unnecessary.
