Best book I’ve read so far this year. So imaginative and compelling it made me wanna start a book club. Will have to read this again. And probably a third time

This was my second read, and it won’t be the last. When first reading this book many years ago, I was very taken by it at a surface and ethical level. After all, there’s a brief scene with a composer who sounds a lot like me (and writes with similar techniques), casual gay stuff, and a lovely but not too possessive love story. This time around, I’m seeing more complexity in every part of the story. I love where it ends, leaving me wanting more and to draw my own conclusions. Those too, will change with future readings.
p.s. the one-star reviews of this book are hilarious. If you do go to read them, please don’t comment or be mean to anyone. I just genuinely laughed at some of them.

There are several themes to unpack in Le Guin's The Dispossessed, but it almost feels as if the layout does it some injustice. I didn't truly gain a great interest until the last 100 pages, which may have had to do with the sequencing of the chapters - the back and forth between Shevek's time on his home planet of Anarres and it's sister planet/moon Urras. However, I did enjoy the varying ideas of freedom, power, belonging/solidarity, loyalty, and, ultimately, utopia that Le Guin explored with her characters. I may re-read at some point attempting the chapters in chronological rather than numerical order
