wish I’d read the other ones first, but then again there’s a bit much pedophilia

This was super trashy. Aw yeah! I picked it up pretty much only because the back cover had a quote from a British newspaper: "The Well of Loneliness looks reassuringly English in comparison." It is a book that is hilariously French as other people think of the French. And like The Well of Loneliness, there are issues with the reinforcing of heterosexuality as the only true sexuality. Bah.

This had some really beautiful and honest writing and is probably my favourite of the series so far.

I was pleasently surprised, I though this was going to be ”just a book”, another one to enjoy but not really adore. But surprisingly, I adored it! Colette’s writing style is very special and wonderful, but if someone were to ask me *how* she writes, I couldn’t tell them. I will definitely be picking up all the other Claudine novels.

Had a long conversation with Abram about how literature seems so bent on exploring how sad and fallen the world is, without looking for any kind of solution. I don’t like reading books about people who feel so lost, especially when I like the characters so very much.

Its low-key erotica, last chapter brilliantly shows heart break
