I guess you can call this a classic tale of misunderstanding.

Except this kraken obviously has no idea what humans need to survive. And Catalina is too stubborn to tell him.

The Krackens sacrifice by Katee Robert delivers on everything it promises to. A grumpy/sunshine monster Romance.

I did like this book a little less than I liked the dragons bargain. I just felt like I didn't connect with these characters as much. I did find the main female character, Catalina, to be a little bit whiny and just not to my liking honestly. She's so comfortable in her hate for herself that I just couldn't get past it. Likewise, the character Thane, was a little bit passive aggressive but then would suddenly become this dominating force in the bedroom. It just didn't flush well with me. But this is a kind of book you read for the smut and the romance, and this book definitely delivered on that.

Overall it is a solid book for what it wants to deliver because it does hit those notes. I am happy that I read it and I am enjoying the series as a whole written by Katee Robert. I will be continuing the series because it does fulfill that need for a really hot steamy romance. They are quick easy reads that are really great for getting you out of a book slump.

I gave this book a solid 3/5. As I said I will be continuing the series and I look forward to the next installment.

came in hope to finish this series and my let’s test drive dragon romance!! and came out emotionally wrecked by a fucking kraken. are you joking.

sure, the spice was good and apparently i would be chill with a tentacle or two but why did no one prepare me for the tidal wave of emotions i would be going through ?? or the respectful use of pronouns katee robert continues to give us ?? or the lgbtq+ rep ?? literally get out

This was an interesting quick read but ultimately not one of my favorites by Katee Robert. It was lower on the spice scale than I had anticipated with there being several decently described on page spice but a long wait for the Thane & Catalena to fully be together and only once. Though this is less than 200 pages so something has to give when you have so much wonderful story telling and character development.

What I did like is the character development, you really get to know the characters and their pasts. And you get to see them work through some of their trauma together and grow and heal through the story.

I also commend Roberts for handling a sensitive topic with the grace and support it deserved and not easily glossing over it with magic the way she could have done. She could have just waved a magic hand and cast a spell in this realm and made the difficult situation disappear with no repercussions but she didn’t. The characters still had the hard discussions and worked through such a difficult issue and topic together to heal.

⭐️ - 3.5. Story is part of series and fits right into the storyline so you know what to expect. Character development was excellent.

Hated Thane. Even if he finally stops acting like a jerk it wont be enough to redeem him in my eyes. And there’s not really any plot to fall back on to keep me interested.

not my favorite of the two books in the series so far, but i’m still looking forward to the next one. the main characters, catalina and thane, didn’t seem like as good a match as sol and briar from the first book. thane spends the first half ignoring and mistreating her (though unintentionally), but it makes their relationship development seem rushed and unnatural. the sex scenes were good but i would have liked to see their emotional relationship develop alongside their physical one. not a bad book, but i’m sure there are other monster romance/tentacle porn books out there that give the characters a more convincing relationship

This wasn't as good as The Dragon's Bride. I didn't connect with the MCs and the relationship felt so shallow. Thane was a bit of a jerk regardless of how he made it up in the end by just finally being a decent person. Catalina was constantly doubting herself because of her past traumas. I think both of these MCs need therapy. However, there were some funny parts and I liked Catalina's humor.

"I won’t pretend I’m not more than a little curious about the tentacles—truly, I’ve seen some inspired art in my day, and the possibility of experiencing it in real life is more tantalizing than I expected—but that doesn’t mean I want to fuck a fish. Wait. Krakens are squid, right?"

Overall, I'd give this a 3.5/5. I was entertained but the romance falls flat. It's more erotica-light than it is 'romance.'

Im keeping it because it makes me blush at how wishy washy love is in this horny ass novel- possibly the own straight -presenting sex content that seems remotely enticing.
