Gay :) And the main character had to be a little stupid to miss the obvious love, but that's okay. Love the Mad Max style baddies. I liked the resolution.

This is one of the best sci-fi books I’ve ever read that discusses the multiverse. It takes a subject matter that is occasionally too much for most to comprehend and breaks it down. I LOVED the characters... all of them good and bad, and I felt like the ending was one of the most satisfying reading experiences I’ve had in years! The main character is both moral and morally ambiguous. The representation of gender and sex and race I found was taken care of really magically. I just love sci-fi so much and things that really open up to how the mind will work and what is possible through science and advancements, but also the heaps of negative things that can come as well. I need more from this author and I need more sci-fi that does a story this well without the added BS! 5/5.

I always find with parallel world type books that I pick holes in the plot. If you can gloss over the bits that don't quite work this is an enjoyable book. Although I didn't like the MC as much as some of the side characters - I found myself wanting to know more about Mr Cheeks and Esther. Also what happens on 175? There's definitely more to these worlds to come back to! It reminded me a bit of mad max.

“The Space Between Worlds” is described by Micaiah Johnson as “Girl dies tons, has adventure.”  Cara is dead in 372 worlds, meaning she can travel the multiverse.  She is plucked out of poverty by a corporation, which sends her between worlds to gather information.  When she discovers the details of the death of one of her doppelgängers, she realizes that there is conspiracy afoot.  It delves deep into privilege and class and is full of clever characters and plot twists. It has deserts and Wild West sex workers and travel bans and queerness.  The main character is very wry and iconoclastic.  It’s a fun and layered read.

It was so promising but around 50% mark it gets really boring, so I had to skim it from that point

First book of the year and it's a doozy.

Even I, a surface reader, can't miss the levels and depths that this story takes its title to. The layers of meaning for "The Space Between Worlds" are explored in so many ways it is dazzling.

I do have to admit, the book almost lost me on 175, but snapped me right back up upon the return to Earth 0.

Some lovely writing here also, this is a writer to watch.
