We listened to this an an audiobook.  It is a great story about recovering from drug addiction and what worked for him.  There were some scenes that I felt like didn’t add to the book.  One is where three porn stars are giving him oral sex.  He’s bragging because he’s famous enough that people want to have sex with him.  It was odd and brought him down a level as far as respect.  It was a good story, just a little self-aggrandizement at moments.  It’s amazing that he was able to stay clean living and very hopeful.

Love how this book gives both a big picture view and an individual story of the opioid epidemic in the United States. Definitely pretty graphic at times, but necessary.

Mike speaks about his years of addiction and the ugly affects of opioids and other drugs on individuals in CT and other states.

Masterpiece. Must read.

To be honest I expected it to be a Youtuber's book with simplistic writing style, but word choices and the pace it was going at was spot on for the essence of the story (which shouldn't be surprising given Mike is an amazing orator). There are other reviews that talks about a jumbled structure and jumpy pacing, but I personally think the structure provided the backbone very well for people who did not know Mike before reading this book, and the pacing was a fitting reflection of the downward spiral as a result of drugs abuse.

It gives a good outline of the Opiods epidemic (which definitely deserves more coverage) and I felt like it was an important point to address.

The descriptions were grim, vile yet authentic. It made me cringe at the disgusting scenes which is a tribute to how well it was written.

Stories and dialogues sent chills throughout my body as I read it, and the dialogue reads like a thriller which was extremely captivating.
