i really enjoyed the characters and seeing the world/plot events from their perspectives (as people who don't feel emotions like others do). however, i thought the ending was rushed and while i can see the motive of the killer, it would have been way more interesting if they were included in the book more

It was an interesting mystery/thriller. I appreciated the way Washington, DC was described in the book. So many books set in Washington, DC get so much wrong, but this one had all the details correct. I could tell that the author spent a lot of time in the city. I found the characters interesting. Most of them are not very likeable, if there was only one perspective I probably would have gotten annoyed with them quickly, but I really liked them as a group and found myself wanting to read more about them. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this one.

Should I be worried that this is the second book this year where I was rooting for a murderer/psychopath?
Anyway, I was really surprised by this book and by how much I enjoyed. It was written in such a fun way. It was super fast paced and didn't get boring for a second. It accomplished something that not many thrillers accomplish: It kept me guessing until the very end basically. I had no idea who the killer was or what would happen next because these characters were so unpredictable.
Usually, I get annoyed when characters act in an irrational way or do something stupid. But here the characters were actually pretty smart and when they did something stupid, it was still believable. That was very refreshing. (I mean, you spend most of the book in the heads of psychopaths and not every decision they make is "good". But I liked how the book showed that not everyone who is diagnosed with this disorder is necessary evil or a murderer.)
Also, I listened to the audiobook and loved it. The narrator does such a good job with the tone and voices, I laughed a lot just because of how she read some of the scenes.
