“You were fully developed at fourteen and I had never seen anyone as beautiful in my life. Even now I don't know how I managed to keep my hands off you. I could not believe what had happened to me. I was a mature adult male, a staid banker, and I had the hots for a schoolgirl.”

Dishonourable Proposal is a little bit “Lolitia-ish” and a perfect example of why I love vintage Harlequin Presents! It has the older, obnoxiously dominating alpha, the tender, virginal, school-girl heroine that just tries to fight back, but loves him too much to do so, the ridiculous situations that leave you shaking your head and it is just fun to read.

Adult Luke falls for Katy when he first meets her at the age of 14. He courts her from afar until she becomes legal. When she turns 18 he takes her virginity and proposes marriage. Katy is thrilled, until she learns that Luke is having an affair with her wicked step-mother. She runs to Paris to get away from him, and becomes a famous model and pin-up girl. Four years later, she donates a date in a charity auction, and finds that Luke won the bid. Now, with her father’s company failing, Luke offers to save it if Katy becomes his mistress.

Luke’s desire for Katy at the age of 14 is a lot of creepy. But he does hold off and waits until she is an adult before pursuing her, so kudos to you Luke. Their relationship is one of miscommunication and lots of angst. They spent years apart hating each other, and that animosity only grows when Katy is forced into a relationship with Luke. I loved Luke’s character, the overbearing Latin alpha that has a soft, creamy center. He was delicious hero and made this an enjoyable read.

This is the exact crazy over-the-top type of book that keeps me coming back to HPs. It had all my favorite ingredients. The secretly in love, jealous, vengeful tycoon who goes through ridiculous gyrations to get the heroine. The supermodel heroine who is also secretly in love and determined to hide it due to their ridiculous misunderstandings.

Seriously I could have shaken the heroine (wait, that's the hero's job in an HP). 2nd day in a row I've read an HP where the heroine deliberately sets out to make the hero think she's a woman with no morals to protect her pride. I'm still not getting how being thought of as basically a prostitute is better than having them realize you have feelings that may not be reciprocated. I'm a proud person to, but draw the line at pretending to be a pseudo-prostitute. Jeez. Then again, this is HPLandia where logic is dangerous and probably illegal.
