I did enjoy this book, but a HUGE glaring error towards the end really threw me for a loop (and I don't know why an editor didn't catch it). Kurt Cobain is the name, and how you spell the name, of the lead singer of Nirvana...not "Curt Corbain," as it's written in the book. *Yikes*

Who are the Hatak Witches and what do they have to do with the museum break in? The first half of the novel is a more standard mystery; whereas, the last half was more fantasy/horror. The ending felt a bit rushed but this was still the best spooky book I have read this season.

2 security guards are killed in a Children's Museum's basement.  The museum has alot of Native American artifacts and bones.  The book spends alot of time talking about Native American legends as well as efforts to get back there artifacts and bones.  There is also alot of time spent on solving the murders but slow pace.  There is a small side story of a kidnapped woman but this only shows up briefly and a few times and I am not sure it if contributes to the story or if I read over the meaning and forgot it.  Overall disappointed as it had a good concept and fell short

Overly detailed where no details are needed and no competent detective would allow any of those shenanigans at the crime scene.

Fun horror thriller set largely in a natural history museum.  Middle of book has slowish pace.  Big action right at the end.  You do learn a lot about the controversy of Native American remains in museums.

This is one of the few books I've read that is truly terrifying. A compelling blend of police procedural and Indigenous supernatural horror, this novel consistently sent chills down my spine. I went into this novel not knowing anything about Choctaw myths or beliefs, so this was a fresh and captivating read.
