it's barely horror by modern standards. it's more of a straightforward sci-fi novelwith a lot of philosophical musings. rather predictable.

A good option for an easy read. The language, characters and the setting were a bit dated, which made me like the book even more. And the cover art is downright eerie.
A lot of themes were touched upon, the most obvious being, what do you do when you become an outdated species in the struggle for existence.
The concept of murdering, wicked children, has somehow always unsettled me - however, Wyndham has marvelously handled it, stating how the Children, starting off with merely defending themselves had the potential to wipe our the entire human race. The narrative was disturbing, yet thoughtful.

Liked this book overall, but definitely think the TV and film adaptations do a much better job of getting the horror aspect across. Maybe it’s because I was already familiar with the plot, but it just never really felt that scary to me. Also spent a lotttt of time on big paragraphs about philosophy which is really my vibe, so it became quite dull at times.
