I don't know where to begin with this review. There was nothing redeeming about any of the characters for me so I never felt invested. That said, the story line did pull me in at the beginning. The ending was implausible and nauseated me a bit...to be honest. I finished the book, so that is where the 3 stars come in. I cared enough to get to the end and find out what happened. I don't look at it as a waste of time, but I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

RATING: 2 STARS
2021; William Morrow/HarperCollins

On the whole, I enjoy Peter Swanson's novels, but this one just did not do anything for me. I did give it two stars for the writing and unique idea. I was enjoying the book until Abigail and Bruce went on their honeymoon. I mostly felt a lot of unease and anxiety through the whole novel and not in a good way. While I stayed invested in the story to see how this all ended, I had no feelings about the characters. I listened to this one on audio, and I feel like that helped me finished the book, rather than DNFing. I look forward to Swanson's next novel, and I still have two books on his backlist to get to.

***I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the publisher through Edelweiss. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.***

Very atmospheric and thrilling, but it just fell short for me. It took a really strange turn about halfway through, and just got really weird. Sad to say because I was highly anticipating reading this, but it ended up being my least favorite book by this author.

The second half is so much better than the first half! I really like the way plot turned out to be a survival story beacuse I really love those. I also love the way Peter Swanson's books always take this specific turn and I always end up surprised when the book isn't just a basic thriller. My problem with the book, however, was the poorly explained ending. I do like a little ambiguous endings but here it felt more like laziness because the whole "reveal" didn't make much sense and a lot of details were just brushed over and forgotten which disappoints me.

A honeymoon gone really really wrong!
What a turn this book took- it’s predictable but also surprising. Some of the ending parts were a bit far fetched but loved the thriller aspect. It kept me hooked and staying up late to finish!
